Pet Lodge is a Resort NOT a Mere Kennel
We have had dogs all our married lives. Turns out that while we were not blessed with any children, we have had great dogs as family members. Consequently, we dote on them quite a bit and as a result are picky about where we house our dogs when we’re out of town.
When we were in Ohio, we new a couple of young people that would come and stay with our dogs in our house while we were gone. This was the ultimate solution and quite preferable to the old school kennels we had available to us there.
Unfortunately, we did not have that situation when we moved to Cumming, GA in 1999. Fortunately, our first online search for kennels turned up the Pet Lodge just south of us in Alpharetta. At that time we had two Labrador retrievers, Britt and Ripley. When we pulled in and saw the doggie swimming pool, we knew we’d found the right place!
The folks that walk, play with and love on your dogs are referred to as camp counselors and the environment has exactly that energy. Our dogs have all loved going to the Pet Lodge. They get excited as soon as we pull into the drive and are eager to get inside and see their “counselors” who know them by name. In this place the dogs are the stars. The counselors all know my dogs and their names, but not mine and that’s perfectly fine by me.
Unlike any other kennel experience we’ve had, when we get our dogs, they are clean, completely mentally stable (i.e. not traumatized or seemingly dazed) and tired because of the great time they’ve been having. Besides the two walks / day that all dogs get, you can pay for extra play times, which we do. Group play times, swim times (our labs loved this immensely) or solo play times. are available. Grooming, training and a host of other services (cats, birds) are available as well.
You can drop your dog there for doggie day care and playtime even if you aren’t going out of town. Take them over for a test drive day and see if they are all that I’m telling you they are!
Sure, it isn’t in Forsyth County or Cumming, GA, but it is on the way to the airport, which generally is where we and probably you, are heading when you need to “kennel” your dogs. So it really is quite convenient and by far the best experience we’ve ever had in kenneling our dogs short of having someone stay with them at home. Frankly, with all the camp counselors at the Pet Lodge, our dogs probably get more attention there than they would at home with a doggie-sitter.
There’s a reason the Pet Lodge has been ranked in the top 10 of “kennels” in America.
